About Manya Arond-Thomas, M.D.

Manya is the founder of Heart of Health Care, LLC. She has served as the Medical Director of a community health clinic and has owned her own practice and small business, first as a healer and then as an internist-psychiatrist. As a Certified Business Coach, she worked internally in a large corporate setting as a full-time team effectiveness coach. Since 2001, she has had her own coaching and consulting business supporting healthcare leaders, medical professionals and entrepreneurs.
Specializing in leadership development and change management, Manya brings over 30 years of experience in personal, team, and organizational development combined with wisdom and compassion to those working in the challenging business of health care.
She is a natural catalyst and has a unique ability to help health care executives and professionals because of her experience working first in the trenches as a physician clinician, and then as a business and executive coach consultant and entrepreneur. An avid student of philosophical, spiritual, and healing traditions from all over the world and of practical business know-how, Manya takes an integrative perspective to merge these points-of-view to bring a larger, more productive context in which to view and act upon the issues people face in business.
When she’s not working with clients, Manya enjoys both the simple and finer things in life, including flying to exotic locales, hiking, dancing and reading. She has an incurable Amazon.com jones. And fun is one of her sustaining values for “if it ain’t fun, it ain’t worth doing.” She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with her husband and 2 cats, Guy and Chloe, from whom she takes regular lessons in being present in the moment, lounging, and assertively asking for what you want.
A Word From Manya
I believe that as humans — in the very core of our organisms — we have an innate drive for life and health. Healthcare leaders and medical professionals are the guardians of and provide the container for this drive. However, unless they themselves are nurtured and supported, they can not shepherd health care into a form that is both life-giving and business-sustaining.
Health is a fundamental birthright of humans. As such, I believe that your role as a leader and medical professional in providing health care is among the most important and noble roles in a community and in our society. Health care in the United States, and in much of the world, is in crisis. Developing resilience at this time is paramount, and leadership is needed very, very badly.
I am inspired by helping my clients get out of what appear to be win-lose exhausting situations to create work environments that work — for them, for their team, and for patients. My vision here at Heart of Health Care, whether you are a leader/administrator in a health care system or owner of a practice/small business, is that you feel empowered and sustained in providing the kind of visionary, compassionate, competent, and cost-effective leadership and management that you need to stay inspired to do the important work that brought you to medicine in the first place.
